Demand for cocaine is steadily declining in the state of Wyoming. However, its prices remain stable. Crack cocaine is available in low quantities in the state. Heroin does not pose a significant threat to Wyoming. It is not considered a popular illicit drug of abuse in the state and doesn't present a significant problem for law enforcement. Mexican black tar is the only form of heroin available in the state.

Depressants and semi-narcotic painkillers such as Dilaudid (hydromorphone), Vicodin (hydrocodone), Percocet, and Percodan (oxycodones) are commonly abused here. Among heroin users Dilaudid has the reputation of a substitute for heroin.
According to the National Household Survey on Drug Abuse (2001),
1.24% of Wyoming citizens reported past year dependence on illicit drugs. In 2001, 41% of high school students in Wyoming reported using marijuana once in their life.
Alcohol Abuse
According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (2003), more than 52% of the Wyoming population (aged 12 or older) reported past month use of alcohol. More than 18% of the people in the age group of 12-17 years and more than 66% in the age group of 18-25 years reported using alcohol past month. Among the people of 26 years or older the rate is more than 54%.
In the survey, around 25% of the Wyoming people showed binge alcohol use and more than 37% reported perceptions of great risk of having five or more drinks of an alcoholic beverage once or twice a week. In the age group of 12-17, past month binge alcohol use is around 13%. In the state, 9.23% of the total population showed alcohol dependence or abuse in past year.
